The Rainbow Filaments are suitable for all FDM 3D printers that can handle 1.75mm diameter. I am just going to explain the settings, models, 3D printers that were used. Also will include the packaging and showing pictures of what the filament looks like.
As it is very hard to describe each one without repeating the same words over and over again. The photos will tell you everything from each filament’s colour and show you the transitions if they are good or not. Remember, not all spools will be the same first or last colour. All the pictures are taken outside in natural sunlight.
One last thing I have noticed there seems to be some copying going on from Eryone and Stronghero3D. Now I don’t know who done what first but it is very suspicious-looking to me. (LOL) I know most Chinese companies do copy to make better products than there competitor they believe this is innovation.
3D Printer Settings
Slicer – Simplify3D
The slicer is compatible with almost all 3D-Printers of the industry. Its key features include high processing speed, a user-friendly interface, and powerful features to edit the complex 3D models. Also, the slicer allows you to edit raw G-codes with relative ease. While experimenting with different nozzles, you can edit settings like extruders, layers. Cons:
– It’s an expensive option for beginners
3D Models
Tevo Little Monster With Fancy Skull
Started with the fancy skull printed at Y 220mm, X 140mm, Z 155mm, took around 25 hours. Clean straight print no clogs or jams using the Tevo Little Monster and a 0.4 nozzle. For the settings I used were, Infill 12%, perimeter shells 1, top solid layers 4, bottom solid layers 3, heat bed temperature at 50c, hotend temperature 205c used a layer height of 0.25.
For my 3D printer, the default printing speed is set at 4500, but of course, you can speed it up more using the control panel. Yes, there was support needed for this model mainly for the small overhangs. You can get this 3D printable file of the Ancient Skull Artifact from Thingiverse by – Kimbolt.
Tevo Nereus With Horse Ornament
The Second two tests are of the Horse Ornament Bring Wealth And Fortune, both the same size, Z 100m, Y 85mm, X 45mm, took under 3 hours each. Printed on the Tevo Nereus and used a 0.4 nozzle. Of course, I had to try the Tesla rainbow filament with a small model to see if there would be a decent amount of colour changes.
For the settings I had set them to, Infill 12%, perimeter shells 2, top solid layers 4, bottom solid layers 3, heat bed temperature at 60c, hotend temperature 190c using a layer height of 0.25. For the Tevo Nereus, the default printing speed is set at 3000. The print surface I used is the FilaPrint and the Switch manufactured by FilaFarm. The 3D printable model is on Cults3D by – Stronghero3D.
Geeetech A10M With Spiral Vase
Final test the Spiral Vase printed in vase mode at Y220mm, X 140mm, Z 155mm, just over 2 hours 30 minutes on the Geeetech A10M 3D printer using a 0.4 nozzle. The settings that were used are, Infill 12%, perimeter shells 2, top solid layers 0, bottom solid layers 3, heat bed temperature at 60c, hotend temperature 200c using a layer height of 0.25. For the Geeetech A10M, the default printing speed is set at 3000.
I couldn’t help myself to speed it up to 150%, but this reduced the print time by 1 hour, quality came out amazing. The only fault is that when higher speed it starts doing salmon skin. This will be something I will need to fix, no support needed! it can be download from Thingiverse by –Streetfire_Industries
Packaging For The Rainbow Filament
Eryone, Stronghero3D And Geeetech
Can’t say much about the appearance of the box for Eryone, Stronghero3D and Geeetech. The plain brown box comes with a small cut out for you to see the colour and a little white label. I think that if they change the box to be more professional looking it will some up how their filament will be. If you were giving it to someone as a gift, they might feel disappointed until they opened the package. The filament comes with a beautiful clear vacuum-sealed bag with a silica gel pouch and with it being a clear bag, you can see the colours of the filament, resulting in a happy face.
Tesla Filament
First of all, the box, black with a colourful logo, to me the box is everything tells you that Tesla means business and takes pride in their products. Makes you want to open the box with excitement, it is excellent for giving a gift to someone and seeing them smile with joy. Instead of a plain brown box that makes you want to leave it on a shelf (haha). Came in a vacuum-sealed bag with a silica gel pouch but this bag was different from any other filaments we have had, it was resealable.
Post-Prossceing With Heat
Now using a heat gun for heat post-processing, your 3D printed model can serve significant benefits and problems. It can make the model stronger by helping each layer to join better, and it can also make it look more glossy matt or satin. But it can also change the colour of the 3D printed model.
This has been tested on all of the fancy skulls, so far the only one that had changed to a glossy effect was the Stronghero3D – Chameleon Rainbow it made the glitter stand out a lot more than usual. But the rest of the models, they only change to matt and also making the colours go whiter.
All The Colours Of The Rainbow
Eryone – Rainbow Filament £25.99
Eryone rainbow PLA filament gives eye-popping silky smooth finished prints. The colours include are red-orange-green-yellow-blue-purple. The spool contains about 20m each colour. Eryone recommends using print temperatures between 195-215℃, the print speed 30-60mm/s and has a tolerance of ± 0.05.
Eryone – LagoonBow Filament £23.99
Rainbow Lagoon filament gives a multi-coloured rainbow effect. It begins with a base colour of silver, integrated with green, blue, purple, red, yellow. LagoonBow changes colour about every 13-15mm, in bigger sized models it will show up more of the fantastic colours that form. Small 3D prints may only contain 1-2 colours due to the nature of the filament.
Tesla – Rainbow Filament $ 30.53
The recommend hot-end temperature is 180-220c, and the hot-bed is 0-50c. Specification Composition: POLYACTIDE RESIN, Manufactured by: Extrusion, Plastic Family: copolymer, Density: 1.25 ± 0.05g / cm3, Dryness: Dryness: 99.99% ,Tensile Strength: 60Mpa ,Spool Diameter: 200mm ,Core Diameter: 57mm. Tesla performs strict tests for colour uniformity and filament diameter
Stronghero3D – Chameleon Rainbow Filament £27.99
Blending a mixture of plant-based materials and polymers creates Stronghero 3D Printer’s PLA, making this material more earth-friendly. Because of the lower melting temperatures and lack of warping, PLA filaments retain their colour vibrancy and are a common choice for displays or small household prints. The 3D printed object will have a glossy type finish with we love it: It can also be changed using a heat gun to stand out the glitter more. Can also provide a beautiful shiny and smooth surface.
Stronghero3D – Exquisite Rainbow Filament £23.89
According to Stronghero3D, this is the best rainbow PLA filament in the world? The colours can range from red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. Orderly wrapped, melt well, feed smoothly and steadily without clogging the nozzle or extruder. Raw materials are from the USA, Euro and are eco-friendly with excellent performance.
Stronghero3D – Epic Rainbow Filament £26.68
Stronghero3D epic rainbow has a variety of colours in just one single roll contains the gradient and shiny effect. For me the colours are fantastic it is kinda similar to one of the eryone filaments. In my opinion, I like the epic better. Again the PLA raw materials are from Natureworks 4032D. These are not recycled nor rework plastic. There is no compound with HIPS OR ABS. Has a stable diameter, no bubbles and a jam-free control system, helps to make printing more smoothly.
In the meantime, why not check out more details on Tesla Rainbow filament.
